Cantata was formed in 1992 by Lisa Mills as a group of friends who performed concerts at local churches to raise money for various charities and church funds.

Since it was formed, the group has grown from strength to strength and performed in numerous churches and concert venues around the counties of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire and has raised money for charities including the Derby Royal Infirmary, The Air Ambulance Appeal, The Ryan Lee Trust, The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Appeal, Leukaemia Research, Beating Bowel Cancer Appeal, FOBU and Cancer Research UK.

Additionally, the group perform at private events such as dinner dances, weddings and corporate events.

Cantata meet once a month at Lisa and Paul’s home in Heanor to rehearse the concert programmes and musical reviews based on West End and Broadway Show tunes, Rat Pack and Glen Miller numbers as well as Acapella songs and popular modern melodies.
Each year they perform a cabaret event with special guest soloists; Cantata and Friends
