Welcome to Cantata's 20th Year! A Singing Sensation!
Following our sucessful concert tour of 2011 and our charity fund raisers at the Duchess Theatre in Long Eaton we have been inudated with requests for more information about concerts and forthcoming events from theatre goers and supporters of Cantata. If you are on our mailing list then you will be kept up to date on our activities. Last season we raised over £3,000 for different charities including our chosen charity, Parkinson's UK. Our September gala concert in Long Eaton sold out very quickly, as did the Christmas in Las Vegas concerts at the Duchess Theatre. We intend to repear the Christmas theme this year and include an extra Sunday afternoon performance for those who don't like to come out during those cold winter nights. As with previous year's we gave various concerts around churches in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and also performed again with Derventio Brass at St. Peter's Church in Littleover. Our following is growing every year and we'd like to say a huge thank you to all our supporters, particularly in this, our Anniversary Year. We are planning a Gala concert in September to celebrate our 20th Birthday as well as travelling to Southport to sing at the International Conference Centre for the International Rotary Conference, a great honour, and an event we are very proud to have been asked to support. To celebrate our 20th year will be recording another CD featuring some of the best choral numbers Cantata has performed in the last few seasons. Details coming soon. We have lots of bookings for private parties as well as concerts and our chosen charity for 2012 is Wish Upon a Star which raises money for terminall ill children to visit Santa in Lapland at Christmastime. We welcome two new members to the group, Sam Barson and Jennifer Richardson and are looking forward to working together in this seasons concerts which takes the theme of small individual sets of music and song including A Night at the Opera, Glen Miller Tribute, West End and Broadway Tribute, Golden Oldies and an Acapella section of reflective and spiritual music......hopefully, something for everyone to enjoy. Our concert season so far can be found on our events calendar but do keep checking for more updates and bookings. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. A happy and healthy New Year to everyone!
